Work instability getting me nervous.
every week since the end of January the company i work for has been loosing people and have not been replacing them. we're not big personnel wise. at the beginning of the year, I think we totaled around 650 to 700. mostly engineers. since the end of March we've now started to have Directors and C-level exit the company en mass.
I started this week learning that two directors as well as several senior level personnel are exiting and each day that number has I created. I think theres about a dozen people exiting with no replacement within the next week.
normally I wouldn't be too concerned and just leave as well, but the job market in my area is so craptastic. people can't even get a job at McDonald's rn. theres a lot of construction going on, but all construction is being done by out of town companies that aren't hiring. theres data centers going up, but they're not hiring any locals. there's a lot of warehouses going up, but 99% of the time they end up vacant and for lease. there's no other companies coming to the area fpr growth either. the local, county, and state politicians are also refusing to address any of these problems as well.
so, now I'm kinda stuck. I would just pickup and move again, but I now have a house and I'm not where I want to be at for selling it. I might just look I to renting it out for the time being instead.
idk, kinda in a tough spot. I know I'll make it out, but how badly I'll be fucked up is, I don't know.
shit just sucks. so many companies posting for hire, and no one is actually hiring and instead laying off as well.
