[24/M] - Want a diary that writes back?

Snail Mail & Postcard

Hey everyone,

My name is Matthew. I’ve been a perennial poster here over the last five years or so, I’ve made some wonderful connections over this time. Some things are coming up in my life that allow me some time to make another friend through pen and paper, so I’m back!

I live in northern British Columbia, Canada, with my girlfriend. We often travel the province and enjoy every bit of the best place on Earth. I am a very outdoorsy person, I am nearly always outside whenever the opportunity arises. Whether it be working my gold claim, fishing, kayaking, hiking or metal detecting, I’m out there. I have lots of stories from all of my travels and adventures that I can’t wait to share with you!

When I’m not outside, I’m usually reading something. Whether it’s a book or a Wikipedia article at midnight, I love to learn and get in my head. I’ve also recently learned what Substack is, so I’ve been liking that a lot. You’ll also often find me jamming in my living room to one of the many records my girlfriend and I have collected over the years. On a Saturday night, I’ll quite frequently be rocking out at one of the local live music venues after one or two too many Strongbows. :) Rock music has me to my core, but I have definite sentimental feelings toward folk, blues and some old country.

I’m working a desk job right now, but I’ve had enough of sitting in a chair all day, so I’ll be working up north on a gold drilling program in the Golden Triangle region of B.C. (northwest, near the Yukon and Alaska panhandle). I’ll have a good amount of time to write to you from my tent on the glacier. :) I’m sure many, many stories will come from the wacky experiences that happen up in the mountains.

I’m looking to write with someone who is looking to get and send long letters. I have always treated these letters like a diary that writes back, I love the deeply personal connection you can get with someone you have never and likely will never meet. I’d prefer to write to someone that’s around my age, but I am flexible enough. I just hope that you enjoy learning about my life as much as I do learning about yours. :)

I do a lot of film photography, with a letter you’ll likely receive a print or two from time to time, alongside a sticker I pick up at a visitor centre or somewhere from my journeys.

If I sound like someone you’d like to connect with, please shoot me a DM!

Talk soon, friend.

Matthew
