I'm giving up ony dream
I’m in my early twenties, but I feel like giving up on my dream. Ever since I was a kid, being an artist was the only thing that ever made sense to me. Drawing and painting were my world, and because people always told me I was good, I went all in. I went to art school, got my degree in Fine Arts, and focused everything on one goal.
My dream was always specific. I grew up obsessed with games, not just playing them, but getting lost in the visuals, the characters, and the atmosphere. I wanted to be a concept artist. I wanted to look at a screen and see a world that started in my head.
I’ve been out of college for two years now, and I’m stuck working as a graphic artist. Honestly? I hate it. Every day I’m doing work that feels empty while I spend my free time applying for the jobs I actually want. For two years, it’s been a constant cycle of applying and getting rejected.
I tried to stay positive. I told myself to keep grinding. But today, I got another rejection from a game company I was really hopeful about, and something just snapped. Now I’m sitting here questioning everything. Am I actually talented, or am I just mediocre? Did people just tell me I was good to be nice? After hundreds of "no's," it’s hard not to feel this way. I’m at the point where I’m wondering if it’s time to just give up on the dream entirely.
