VIP merch pickup

Has anyone had trouble picking up the VIP merch if you aren’t the original purchaser of the ticket? My friend bought our tickets but isn’t coming anymore. I read something about needing ID that matches the name of the person who bought the tickets but I’m not sure how much they’re enforcing that.
