I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I honestly feel conflicted.
Why do people shame others for enjoying generational wealth? If someone is born into financial stability, why is it seen as something negative to actually enjoy it?
There’s so much pressure to build a career, prove yourself, and create some kind of identity through work. Even if deep down that’s not what you want. I feel like I’m being pushed to build a career just for the sake of having one, not because I truly want it.
If I had the choice, I would love a slower and simpler life. I’d spend my time gardening, doing art, taking care of kids, or even just living quietly without constantly chasing something. But it feels like society doesn’t respect that kind of life.
It’s almost like your worth is decided by how much you achieve or how hard you struggle. And if you don’t want that, you’re seen as lazy or wasting your potential.
I’m not against ambition at all. I understand why people want to build something for themselves. But not everyone wants the same life. Some people just want peace.
So I’m curious what others think. Is it wrong to just enjoy a comfortable life if you have the means? Or is this pressure to earn your identity actually valid?
