Plateu... Do i go back to maintenance calories or wait my dosage increase out?
Hi Everyone!
Some advice is needed! I am a 23F who started this journey in October of 2025. My starting weight was 235 pounds, and I have been able to lose a total of 30 lbs so far in the 27 shots I have taken, so about 13% of my body weight in almost 7 months. My ultimate goal is to get down to about 140 pounds. I see people here having great success losing 90+ pounds!
I started at 2.5 mg and have slowly gone up when I hit a plateau. My titration started at 2.5 mg, then went to 3 mg, then 3.5 mg. I have been struggling over the last 4 weeks to get below 200 pounds. Last week, I decided to titrate up to 5 mg because I was experiencing an increase in food noise, and I have been bouncing back between 204 lb and 202 lb. One week in, I can see that my weight isn't dropping on the scale. I am trying SO hard to give it some more time and not get all in my head because, as a woman, there are so many changes on the scale.
A bit of a backstory, but I also have PCOS and Hashimoto's disease. I try to drink 90 OZ of water a day and get in about 30 g of fiber a day. On an average day, I am able to get in at least 70 grams of protein a day. Can anyone tell me if it takes a bit to notice a change in weight after starting a higher dose?
I also want to note. My current calorie deficit is 1,524. My maintenance calories are about 2,067. I have heard something here and there that if you eat at a calorie deficit for too long, your body will start to adapt, and losing weight will eventually come to a halt. To reset things, you need to eat at maintenance calories for about a month. Does anyone know if this is true when on a GLP-1? Do you think my body has adapted to the calorie deficit, and no matter if I increase to 5 mg or not, I still need to eat at maintenance to heal my metabolism, then can start eating at a deficit again to continue my weight loss?
