Disappearing Items

So I had some water containers (large jug and some muck tubs all full of water sitting on kitchen counter in my base covered by the UC. They had been there for a few in game days but now all 4 of them are gone. Any insight to how this happens? First time I have experienced this in over 100 hours of playing.
