[M4F] - If you read this then it will hypnotize you. But that's just what you want, to be hypnotized.
Pick one tiny spot on the screen here. Keep your eyes on it and let them stay open. You can feel your seat beneath you, you can see the spot, you can hear your own breathing. Three true things. Let one part of you keep looking at the spot. Let another part keep reading my words. Let a third part just notice both happening. Looking part looks. Listening part listens. Noticing part notices.
As you keep looking, you don't know whether the edges of the room will get soft first, or the spot will seem to get brighter first. Either way means your visual system is doing what it naturally does when you stare. Notice how the eyes want to stay right there. Just content to rest on the spot. The longer you look, the more comfortable staying feels.
With your thinking mind, imagine looking away to the left. At the same time, let the feeling part notice how much easier it is to let the eyes stay. Don't force either. Just compare the idea of moving with the feeling of staying.
Most people find staying feels easier, like the eyes have already chosen to rest. Your thinking says move, your body says stay. Both true at once. Keep the spot clear. Now rest your attention on your hands in your lap. You don't need to move them.
Imagine lifting your right index finger a tiny bit. At the same time, notice how heavy and settled the hand feels, happy to stay right where it is. The more you imagine trying, the more obvious it becomes that staying is easier. That is your deeper mind showing you it can respond automatically. Two different systems giving two different answers at the same time. Keep looking at the spot. Now give the thinking part a small busy job. In your head, count back from 3, and with each number name one thing you feel.
!3 chair!<
!2 the sound of your breathing!<
!1 hands!<
You don't need perfect order. Whether numbers stay clear or get fuzzy, let comfort keep growing. This little confusion gives the analyzer a task while the feeling part settles more.
Look away from the spot to the corner of the room, then back to the spot. Notice you settle a little more on the return. Look away again, then back. Each return makes the next easier.
As you read this line, let the noticing part see that the looking part is here now, the listening part is half a second behind, and the feeling part is already spreading that easy heaviness up from hands to arms to shoulders. Past, present, and next moment all happening together keeps the thinking mind busy so the body can respond freely. As this spreads, you may notice your breathing slow first, or your body get heavy first. Whichever you notice, let that be the sign to let the other follow.
When that settled feeling reaches the top of your head, let all three parts agree on one simple sign. Let your fingers type the word "relaxed" to me in the chat.
