Should I keep watching?

SpoilerSEASON 2

I just started watching Lost for the first time with my boyfriend. It’s one of his favorite shows, he watched it while it was airing and once more recently but has forgotten a lot of the minor plot points.

Anyway, we just watched season 2 episode 6 (so no crazy spoilers), aka where Shannon dies in Sayid’s arms. The acting was great, i was in tears, but the death seems so quick and unnecessary, i was so looking forward to Sayid helping Shannon find her confidence in herself and her place on the island. and her ‘replacement’ has nothing on her as far as character development

This moment coming just episodes after Walt getting kidnapped and it’s creepy implications have me thinking this may not be the right show for me. i didn’t expect it to be happy but it seems disjointed right now.

They were my favorite characters and favorite couple (other than Jin and Sun who i still have) and i’m wondering if it’s worth it for me to keep going. I can’t stand Ana Lucia and her 2004 tomb raider persona and her being the one who killed Shannon has ruined a lot of the show for me. Maybe i’ll get lucky and she’ll be eaten by wild boars. I don’t care much about the second island group right now and if a lot of it is going to be about them i may find another show. Ana Lucia is irresponsible and while i’m sure the show is going to try and justify her so she isn’t universally hated, is there anything i can try to focus on to make the story still matter to me?

I know this doesn’t make too much sense as i’m still trying to process this and i’m on my lunch break. i do like the show overall and we watch like 2-2.5 episodes most times when we can like 4 nights a week but the seemingly random choosing of characters to sacrifice just to bring in new ones after 2 seasons is throwing me off. advice pls
