2021 Yukon XL torque converter replacement questions
We have a 2021 Yukon with 55k miles on the clock. started developing a low rpm shudder at about 46k miles. at 50k miles I had the transmission flush done to see if that would fix the shudder. it didnt. I took it in Tuesday for oil change and asked them to look into the shudder. They called and said the torque converter is bad and they would replace it under warranty. didnt realize the torque converter replacement was a $5000+ dollar job. We have 5k miles or until October before our power train runs out. My question is should I be pushing for a full transmission replacement before warranty runs out? I talked the the service manager and she said the transmission should be fine because we caught it early according to the transmission tech. I read torque converter failures can put metal into the transmission causing failures. we just had the transmission flushed 5k miles ago so would he have seen any metal when he dropped the pan this time? Has anyone had a torque converter replaced and been fine? sorry for the long winded message. thanks for all input
