At what point did you stop being the one who knows where every crew is?
Genuinely asking because I'm trying to figure out if this is just a phase or if it never actually goes away. Running 3 crews right now. I know where everyone is because I'm either tracking them by phone or because I just know my guys well enough to predict their day. It works but only because I'm the one holding it all together mentally. Last week one crew finished a job early and I had no idea until they called me. Which means for about 45 minutes they were sitting idle waiting on me to figure out where to send them next. That 45 minutes cost me real money and I was literally the bottleneck. The guys are solid. That's not the issue. the issue is that everything still runs through my head.
For those of you running 4, 5, 6+ crews.... how did you actually get to the point where you weren't the one tracking everyone? Was it a specific system, a person you hired, or did you just accept that this is part of the job???
