Does find my detects when i‘m driving or cycling?

I‘m sharing my location with a family member

And i noticed sometimes that they‘re jogging, driving or even cycling

A small icon appears on the widget in my home screen near their location and their name

Genuinely could the app tell how i‘m moving ? If not then that means the other person is making efforts to make those icons visible correct ?
