PSA: Phocus 4.1.2 has a critical color preview regression. Downgrade to 4.1.1 until it's fixed. Credit to /u/freddiew88 for finding it.

Following up on u/freddiew88's post about the weird color behavior in Phocus 4.1.2, I reproduced the bug on multiple machines (MacBook Pro Liquid Retina XDR, Apple Studio Display, Pro Display XDR, True Tone off on all three), went deeper to figure out what actually changed between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2, and wrote up the full details.

The short version: every 3FR file opened in Phocus 4.1.2 on Mac is shown with a wrong-gamut default preview that does not reflect the actual HNCS color pipeline. Exports are still correct, which means you are editing against a wrong preview and exporting correct pixels that reflect edits made to compensate for the wrong preview. The only confirmed practical workaround for now is to downgrade to Phocus 4.1.1.

Full writeup with the demonstration steps, the workaround, and a short summary of what I found in the code:

Credit for spotting the bug goes entirely to u/freddiew88. I just followed them down the rabbit hole.

For anyone affected: I've sent a detailed bug report to Hasselblad support with evidence and a suggested code-level starting point, but more user tickets = more pressure for a fast fix. If you can spare five minutes, filing your own support ticket referencing the "default Hasselblad RGB preview rendering regression" would help.
