Pizza Pizza turned one simple order into 3 deliveries, 3 hours, and a full-blown pepperoni crisis
As a chef with over 20 years in hospitality, I’ve seen a lot of nonsense. This one was right up there.
We usually order Pizza Pizza from this location when we want a quick pizza night instead of going out for proper pizza. My wife is nine months pregnant, so this was supposed to be the easy option. Quick, simple, done. This location has honestly always been good to us.
Not this time.
It was a half-and-half pizza. One side roasted red peppers, black olives, and broccoli. The other side extra cheese and double pepperoni.
The first pizza showed up wrong because the app messed up the toppings. On top of that, the cheese was over everything, including the pepperoni, so it was already nothing like what we ordered.
I called and asked for a replacement with the right toppings, and for the pepperoni to be on top of the cheese so it could actually cook properly. Pretty basic stuff.
The second pizza arrives. Toppings are finally right, but the pepperoni is buried under the cheese again. Greasy, soggy, way too salty, and barely edible.
So I call back, thinking this is the easy part. Instead, customer service tells me that if I want the pepperoni on top, they have to remove the extra cheese. Then came the hold music loop. Hold. Back from the restaurant. New answer. Hold again. Back to the restaurant. Another answer. At one point I’m told they “can’t do it” because it’s “not on the menu,” even though that is literally how they advertise the pizza.
Then I’m told the replacement has been adjusted, placed, and sent.
Over an hour later, nothing.
I call back again and find out it was never properly placed at all.
So somehow one completely normal request turned into 3 deliveries, 2 awful pizzas, nearly 3 hours wasted, and enough hold music to qualify as psychological warfare.
And naturally, when the third pizza finally arrived, it was perfect.
So the request was never the issue. The issue was bad communication, sloppy execution, and a business somehow treating pepperoni placement like a high-level engineering problem.
Anyone else had this level of nonsense with Pizza Pizza lately?
