I feel like most language apps didn’t really work for me long term.

I tried Duolingo, flashcards, all that stuff — and it always felt like I was “learning”, but then I’d forget everything a few days later. Especially vocabulary.

What actually made a difference was switching to reading.

I started reading really simple texts (later books), and instead of memorizing isolated words, I’d just tap/translate words in context. Somehow my brain remembers things way better this way.

It’s slower at first, but it feels much more “real”. Like I’m actually understanding the language instead of just practicing it.

Curious if anyone else here had the same experience? Or is it just me?
