Moving from web dev to game dev (as a hobby). Any advice ?
Been in web dev for about 10 years, and always wanted to switch to game dev. I’m thinking of starting as a hobby to see how it goes, probably with something simple like a vertical shooter.
Mostly curious about the transition from web architecture to game logic. For those of you who have done both:
-
did you stick with JS engines (like Phaser) or move straight to something like Godot or Unity ?
-
what was the biggest mindset shift coming from a web background ?
-
is it better to keep it simple and focus on browser version as first couple of projects ?
would love to hear some opinions
