27k in loans, 40k salary, RAP or IBR?
I graduated in 2021, and I have 11 loans with an average interest around 4.5% all taken out between 2016-2021.
My loans were frozen because of the pandemic so I didn't have to pay anything, then I signed up for SAVE and paid one $12 monthly payment before SAVE was frozen.
My AGI for 2024 was much lower (around 20,000 maybe) and for 2025 I think it will be around 40,000.
I haven't filed my taxes for 2025 yet. I'm wondering if I should switch to IBR before I file my taxes, or if RAP would be better for me and I can just go ahead and file my taxes and sign up in July?
I don't really have a goal, part of me is hoping I can pay the smallest payments possible and hopefully someday loan forgiveness will magically happen for everyone 😭
However, I know my loans are pretty small in the grand scheme of things and don't want the principal to balloon. If none of this makes sense it's because I'm poorly informed and confused about everything.
I am also currently unmarried and do not plan to have kids anytime soon.
