WiFi not working (Broadcom BCM4360) on MacBook Pro 11,2 - Ubuntu 24.04 - Kernel 6.17
Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble getting the internal WiFi card to work on my MacBook Pro 11,2 (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
The issue:
The WiFi adapter is not detected in the settings. When I try to install the drivers via "Additional Drivers" or manually via the terminal (using bcmwl-kernel-source), the installation fails during the build process. It seems like the driver is failing to compile with my current kernel version.
Technical Specs:
* Hardware: MacBook Pro 11,2 (Broadcom BCM4360 [14e4:43a0] rev 03).
* OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
* Kernel: 6.17.
* Current setup: I'm hosting a Minecraft server, so connection stability is vital. Currently, I'm using iPhone USB tethering as a workaround, but I need my USB ports free.
My questions:
-
Is there a specific patch or a different driver (like broadcom-sta-dkms) that works with Kernel 6.17 for the BCM4360?
-
If this internal card is known to be a "lost cause" on newer kernels, should I just buy a Linux-compatible USB WiFi dongle (like an Alfa Network) or a USB-to-Ethernet adapter instead?
Thanks in advance for your help!
