Pet insurance

My dogs renewal documents from PetPlan came through this month and they want £91 a month for a 7 year old mix breed dog with no pre existing issues. Never claimed before or anything. She's my oldest dog and so it's not just her i'm paying for AND i have a multi pet discount. I think that's absolutely extortionate for 1 dog.

I've just had quotes from other insurers and the difference is insane. So my question is, why is petplan so expensive? Am i better off staying with them and paying that amount and upwards as she gets older or am i better switching? So many of my friends don't have insurance at all and i'm wondering if i'm the silly one paying that much per month. Not sure if i'm comfortable to be without it but the difference is crazy. Are they less likely to pay out? What's the deal with the prices in PetPlan? Do you think i'm doing the wrong thing by switching?

Also, if i do switch.. any recommendations for a really good pet insurer?
