Why Do Some People Distrust or Dislike Freemasons?

Why do some people dislike Freemasons? I’ve seen a lot of mixed opinions online some people think it’s just a normal fraternal group, while others act like it’s secretive or even shady. Is there an actual reason behind the negativity, or is it mostly misconceptions?
