Cushioned hiking shoe suggestion
Only been wearing barefoot-ish shoes for about 8 months, mostly whitins with thin sole for casual wear and about a 10 mm cushion sole for 10 hour work days on concrete 5 days a week.... Also have a pair of 10 mm cushion sole Geococcyx running shoes that I've been wearing for gravel road running and 10 Mile hikes or less. The geococcyx shoes have been allowing my feet to get beat up during hikes, now I hike generally rough Rocky Rooty Arkansas trails.
Yesterday I received a brand new pair of Topo Pursuit 2's as I'm getting ready for a 24 Mile Grand canyon hike and then in August another mountain hike at Mount Elbert in Colorado. Have only worn the topo shoes for a couple hours in the house, but so far the arch support doesn't feel good and the toe spring is crazy. Should I just take more time to get used to them or would something like Hobibear Aurora's (Altra lone peak knockoff) be better.
I got the topos because I thought the 28 mm stack height would be better for trails, but I'm second-guessing already. Only have about 45 days to get ready for that 24 mile hike.... Maybe send these back & just wear the Geococcyx that I have already been using.
