Are these habits of mine signs of ADHD/Neurodivergent or neither?

Question 🤔

Hi, I think I might have ADHD. My school sent me to get tested for learning disabilities, and while I was there I asked the doctor if he could also test me for ADHD. He said he would, but then laughed and asked if I got the idea from TikTok since now "everyone has it". I’ve actually been researching ADHD for years because I genuinely feel like I relate to it but in the end, he didn’t sign me up for the test so there's that.🫠

My mom doesn’t really understand ADHD, so I can’t ask her to pay for another diagnosis right now. I’m planning to wait until I have a stable job so I can do it myself.

After this mini vent, I wanted to list some things I experience and ask if they could be related to ADHD or being neurodivergent:

  1. I can’t focus on just one activity. For example, I’ll be on my computer with 6 tabs open, jumping between them. I need constant stimulation and can’t sit and focus on just one thing.

  2. Rejection sensitivity: I take rejection very seriously, and it scares me. Even when others move on, I tend to hold onto it for a long time.

  3. I enjoy planning more than actually doing things. I’ll plan everything perfectly, but when the time comes, I lose all interest.

  4. I get obsessed with ideas but don’t act on them. For example, I love Brazilian culture and music and think about learning Portuguese all the time. I’ve downloaded apps and mentally memorize words, but I never actually start studying anything. I just keep thinking about it.

  5. I get overwhelmed by too many options. If I have to choose something, I’ll procrastinate for days. Even something like going to a restaurant stresses me out if I can’t see the menu beforehand.

  6. I get random bursts of energy throughout the day. One moment I’m excited, the next I feel really low. I think I get overstimulated easily and then kind of shut down.

  7. Socially, I want to be included and be around people, but when I am, I either get overwhelmed by people and how i should respond so stay quiet or go quiet because im actually so happy. I feel like it makes me seem sad even when I’m not.

  8. Constant over-explaining: I tend to over explain everything and feel like I always need to justify why I do the things I do so people understand me. It often turns into oversharing, and I struggle to know when to keep things private or stop talking.

It’s confusing because I feel like I need noise and stimulation, but at the same time, people talking directly to me can feel overwhelming. I don’t know if it’s because I’m awkward or because I overanalyze everything.

Thank you if you read all of this 🤍
