According to Deloitte, a global consulting firm that big companies pay for data and business advice, 40 percent of Americans have cut back on streaming services in the last three months because of financial concerns, nearly 75 percent are frustrated that their streaming platforms keep raising prices, Deloitte works with major corporations like Netflix and Disney, so their reports are taken seriously

Netflix raised prices again, the standard plan with ads went from $7.99 to $8.99 a month, the ad free standard plan is now $19.99 a month, the premium plan is $26.99 a month, that is a $2 increase on the ad free plans, the ad supported plan went up $1

Disney raised prices last September, Disney Plus with ads went from $9.99 to $11.99 a month, that is a $2 increase, the ad free option went up $3 to $18.99 a month, Hulu with ads went from $9.99 to $11.99 a month, the ad free version stayed at $18.99

Inflation is at 2.4 percent annually, still above the Federal Reserve target of 2 percent, grocery prices were up 0.4 percent from the month before, gas prices were up 0.8 percent, the war in Iran is expected to push gas prices even higher in the next report

So people are looking at their monthly bills, they see Netflix at $20, Disney at $12, Hulu at $12, Amazon at $15, Apple at $10, Paramount at $12, Peacock at $8, that is nearly $90 a month just for streaming, that does not include internet or cable or any other bills

40 percent of Americans have already started cutting back, nearly 75 percent are frustrated, the streaming bubble is finally popping

Streaming companies are not going to stop raising prices, they see reports like this and ignore them, they do not care about the 40 percent of people cutting back, they care about the shareholders who want profits every quarter, the same shareholders who never get mentioned when your bill goes up, they are the ones collecting the money while you decide which service to cancel

Netflix will keep hiking, Disney will follow, then Hulu, then everyone else, they will introduce a cheaper tier with more ads, then raise the price on that one too, then freeze prices for six months to look like the good guys, then raise them again, it is the same cycle over and over

So what are people doing instead, some are switching to free ad supported services like Tubi and Pluto, others are borrowing a friend's password even though sharing is banned, and a lot are going back to the old ways, piracy is making a comeback because when you charge $20 for Netflix, $12 for Disney, $12 for Hulu, $15 for Amazon, $10 for Apple, $12 for Paramount, and $8 for Peacock, people remember how to use a VPN

How many streaming services are you paying for right now and which one would you cancel first?
