Let's write Charlotte not as a born villain, but as someone who changed because she was given the chance to be special.

Before the Moon Pool, who was she? A new girl. A granddaughter desperate to connect with a grandmother she barely knew. Maybe lonely. Maybe overlooked. Maybe already carrying a hunger to be *enough* — for someone, for herself, for a legacy that felt like it should have been hers.

Then came the choice. Not an accident like the others. Charlotte *walked into that water on a full moon*, knowing exactly what would happen. That's not impulse — that's intention. So what drove her? Desperation to feel connected to Gracie? Or the terrifying hope that magic would finally make her matter?

And then she got it — all three powers. On paper, she was the most gifted mermaid in the show's history. But instead of belonging, she became untouchable. Instead of connection, she found isolation. Did having everything actually prevent her from needing anyone? Did her abundance become her undoing?

Finally, the loss. In the season 2 finale, Charlotte is stripped of her powers and her being a mermaid. She wakes up as the "old Charlotte”, but was that a mercy or a tragedy? Did she want to forget? Or did losing her powers feel like losing herself for a second time?

Let's share fanfics, snippets, or headcanons that follow Charlotte through this full arc: **before → the choice → the fall → the loss**. Not to excuse her. Not to redeem her. Just to understand her as a layered antagonist who once chose power, paid the price, and then didn't even get to remember why.

No hate. No bashing. Just deep, curious, character-driven storytelling.

Who was Charlotte before the Gold Coast? What was she trying to find, and who became her after she walked into the Moon Pool that night, then lost them all?
