Traditional Latin Mass
I’d like to call myself a more traditional Catholic, and I attend traditional Latin Mass. I of course respect the Roman Rite and authority of the Pope, but the recent restrictions placed upon the traditional Latin Mass, seem a bit much, and damaging to me.
I understand Vatican II, and subsequent regulations implemented for parishes were taken in order to unify the church all over the world, and be progressive. This is a good goal, however, it seems it has taken a toll on the new generation of Catholics. I am a mere man and I don’t intend to place judgement on anyone, but many people who I have seen attend/attended regular non-Latin mass, seem to be a bit absent-minded and distracted from God.
Part of it is that new generations, I believe, aren’t taught proper prayer, or really have the true meaning of mass instilled in them. Many people go into church, like a habit, and leave, they don’t actually sit and meditate and reflect and pray, it’s not as solemn or reverent as it used to be.
From the little things to kneeling upon entering, to receiving the Eucharist on the tongue, tradition is being traded for efficiency. I believe, it is taking away from the truth solemnity and meaning of mass, to be with God, respect God, and focus on him completel.
We Catholics hold ourselves to our traditions with pride, but they seem to be slipping away. I don’t want to debate or fight, I simply am worried for the Church.
