Do I ACTUALLY Need Veneers?
As a kid, I developed poor hygiene on top of never going to the dentist. The consequence is that pretty much every upper tooth has a crown, filling, or implant. Unfortunately, the composite fillings have stained in the decade-plus that I've had them. The shade has also never matched my natural teeth. I've been told by my regular dentist that I should consider porcelain veneers. He additionally thinks I should redo the crown (the big, misshapen tooth that's 20+ y/o) at the same time, so that everything matches color-wise.
I sought a second opinion from a cosmetic dentist. She quoted 14K for 6 restorations: porcelain veneers + the crown. I initially agreed to the treatment, but now I don't know anymore, especially because I didn't like my experience there.
I don't want veneers or to redo the crown. My teeth are ugly, but I can bite into anything with them, even with all the restorations. I don't want to remove any more teeth either. I just wanted the stains removed and to try to better blend the shades. Do I really have no options besides veneers?
I do not smoke or drink.
Thanks.
