Why Can't the SU do something fun

Has anyone from the SU ever explained why they can't do anything fun for students? We hear about how good BSD used to be, why can't they make BSD great again? The SU at UofL are apply to put on to massive parties at the start of the year (Fresh Fest) and at the end (Last Class Bash). They have even landed big artists like Mother Mother, Lights, BBNO$, etc. They are a smaller university in a small city and are bunching way above their weight class. Why is the UCalgary SU so content with being boring? Everyone complains about this being a commuter school. The students yearn for something fun. Why can't the SU deliver? I want someone from the SU (past or present) to provide a real answer (Gabriella & Mateusz I know you guys see these posts) . Is admin pressuring you to not let you do something fun? Why are you caving to their demands? Is it something else? I know the SU has the cash to pull this off (the events would be ticketed anyway so they would breakeven). Give us a no b.s. answer. The "Calgary Strong" thing is lame, give us a real party.
