Bioptics for driving, what was your acuity?
Sorry if this is not the correct sub for this question, it seems r/lowvision may not be active anymore?
I was diagnosed with bilateral Optic Atrophy at five, and while I started out at 20/40 when I got my license at sixteen, my vision is now sitting at 20/70 corrected. I’ve always been a cautious driver, I never drive at night and happily take the passenger seat whenever I can. But I’m starting to notice some shifts that have me thinking about bioptics.
I guess my question is would I even qualify with 20/70 acuity since it's still considered ok to drive in my state? Do I ask my ophthalmologist or do I need to go back to an optometrist? Dare I ask how much the bioptics were?
