Why do ducks suddenly flap and run on water for no reason?

I’ve noticed ducks sometimes just go full chaos mode out of nowhere. They start flapping, running across the water, making a bunch of noise… and then just stop like nothing happened. No obvious threat, nothing chasing them

Is this some kind of play behavior or just random duck energy?
