Something interesting about something very bad is going to happen - spoilers included

When Rachel tells the story of how she met Nicky, she says she had a terrible feeling about the plane. On a rewatch, I started wondering if that feeling was actually about Nicky rather than flying itself. Maybe she saw him or just sensed his presence, and since he ends up being the reason she “dies” and becomes a witness, it gets misattributed to anxiety about flying. It feels like her subconscious was warning her, but she explains it away as nerves. That feeling doesn’t really come back until she gets closer to marrying him, and even her mom mentions in the video that she has had a sense for days that something terrible is going to happen.

Later, when they are arguing, Rachel says something like “I should have never saved your life that day,” and Nicky responds, “You didn’t, the plane never crashed.” I mentioned this to a friend because I thought it was obvious, but she saw it differently and thought it was more about Nicky gaslighting her and making her doubt her instincts.

I was thinking instead that Rachel might be realizing that what she felt wasn’t about the flight at all, but about him. Just wanted to share and see if anyone else read it the same way.
