Saw someone i haven't seen in 3 years today

I took a class today for the union to get my card. Got in a few minutes and it was packed. Only seat I noticed was in the front. I sat and looked around and saw someone I haven't seen in 3 maybe 4 years on the other side of the room. And I immediately recognized her. We were friends in college, we interned at the same theater and worked our first few years together. Over time I developed feelings for her.

Then she stopped showing up. To get into this union there's a couple ways to get in and she did the 3 years and make a certain amount of money route. When we had our first break. After some debate I went over to her and said hey. We hugged and talked for a bit. Then she mentioned she is engaged. And that, that hurt. I've thought about her more than I probably should have during that time.

Once class got started I went back to my seat and felt pretty emotional. Thought I was gonna cry but then I started to feel relieved. Now I know. And honestly Im happy for her. I just wish I got to tell her how I felt before. And so many other things I regret but this, today. I feel regret and relief
