Reliquary of Resilience … am I dumb or is the game dumb?

This tale reads:

Within the caverns of Mount Yotei, a lost boy surrendered to a tired sleep

The wolves stood guard

Looking toward the mountain

And you have four wolves. Okay, makes sense; it’s one of those puzzles and you have to get the wolves to face Mount Yotei that is front and center in front of this puzzle.

… nope. The actual solution is instead to have the wolves all look inward at the center of the puzzle instead.

Am I dumb or is this an incredibly stupid puzzle? How is anybody who reads “have the wolves look toward the mountain” and assume it means “ah, don’t actually do that but instead do something random instead” lol
