You need to plug the car in and use the EV mode to charge the vehicle a couple time from 0-80% to give the car a chance to have an accurate reading of the battery life, so that it can give the right output of the electric motor when changing EV to gas. I was driving hybrid mode most of the time before my new job that have cheap charging station, I utilize the EV mode more and I think that give the car a more accurate of life if the battery, so now when it switches from EV to gas at slow speed the car is so much smoother now, before that only at highway speed that the transition is smooth.
