Overheard the leader of professional development calling people dumbasses after an in-service…

Wondering how you guys would react to this (or if you’d even react at all).

My small school had an in-service for professional development/continuing education. They are led by one person typically and can be a little intense and I understand why people don’t always want to speak up or participate. For example, if you answer a question, you’re going to get more questions (rapid fire!) on the spot.

A very trusted co worker overheard the leader talking to co workers who are in her friend group about how no one could answer the questions and said they were dumbasses.

I feel furious. They’re not dumbasses. I’m not a dumbass. No one is answering questions because it’s not a comfortable environment to do so.

The next in-service, I didn’t say a word, whereas I usually participate quite a bit. Regardless of my “boycott”, I got called on to answer a question because no one else was speaking up.

I’m just so over this. I’m tired of the cattiness and downright disrespect.
