Hawaii Trip - 1st week of June advice
Good afternoon group,
My son is 17 and he has wanted to visit Hawaii for his Senior trip forever. We are in a good place financially and want to surprise him this summer before his Senior year. I currently have 2 hotels booked that I got a GREAT price on. One is on the Big Island and the other is on Kauai. We are planning on a full 6 days on the island.
We had settled on the Big Island, but after talking to a local on Kauai, I think he has convinced us to go there instead. Looking for some advice on what the greater group would recommend for our family.
Kids are 17 and 13. They are outdoor kids, but the idea of hiking 2 miles to a waterfall and looking at it and hiking back doesn't appeal to them too much. Kayaking, Ziplines, Horseback riding, Boat tours, etc are all right up their alley though.
We haven't really planned the Big Island trip yet, but have this rough plan for Kauai.
Helicopter Tour - (Island Helicopters Kauai?), Chocolate factory tour (Lydgate Farms), Tubing through the tunnels (Back Country Adventures), Beach day, Horseback Tour (CJM Stables), Capt Andy boat tour (NaPali Coast). If we can fit in a fishing trip or some kind a cool Kayak float, that would be awesome as well. Would love to drive up to Princeville and see some of those sites as well if time allows. All the lava tubes that empty in the ocean and have the spouts when waves hit. And maybe even drive the canyon. I know that's a lot, but those are the ideas for the trip. Maybe we do most, maybe we squeeze them all in. Who knows.
Just now starting to plan the same sort of of ideas for the Big Island. But all I know is we want to see the active volcano and do ziplines and some black sand beaches.
Any and all advice on the trip would be awesome to help us in deciding on which island to hit and what to do while there. We hear the ziplines are much better on the Big Island, and the black sand beaches are super cool.
Thanks in advance!
