Is moxifloxican an appropriate abx for a middle ear infection?

37F, 5’4” 145lb, non-smoker, no regular medications or health problems. Penicillin allergy

I started having right ear pain a week ago, & woke up 4 days ago with extreme difficulty hearing in that ear. Went to urgent care that day & started doxycycline. I had zero improvement in symptoms & then woke up today with worse pain & hearing loss so I went back to urgent care. A different provider told me to stop taking the doxycycline & prescribed oral moxifloxican.

I know I should stay off Google, but I couldn’t help it. I looked it up & it seems like a really intense choice for an ear infection, & drops seem to be the preferred form for them. Does this seem like a normal choice? I’m desperate for this pain to go away but don’t want to take something so intense if it’s not gonna work
