Need help finding records for navy ships and their crew

Hey everyone! bit of a longshot I'm fairly new to the genealogy and researching my ancestors in general but my father has been interested for years. Im looking to try and obtain a list of records or some clue as to where i can find the names of Navy vessels and their crew that travelled from Cardiff South wales (totally unsure if this is the starting point) to melbourne australia (or the surrounding area) if anyone can help with finding or any methods to obtain them please let me know! my private messages will be open but feel free to comment also!
