Metal ware removal operation

My 3.5 yo badly broke his elbow falling off one of our kitchen island chairs. He had corrective surgery that included fitting a giant screw, which is being removed in a couple of weeks. He’s unable to straighten his arm fully with it in. I was just wondering if anybody had any experience of this - operating time, recovery time, will he be put in another pot or just a bandage?, will they re-open the same incision as last time? … all questions I forgot to ask during the pre-op call yesterday. The whole thing was obviously so traumatic for him, so I just want to know what to expect so I can start prepping. I’ll also be a week out from giving birth on the day of his op (not *really* relevant but it does account for me blanking and forgetting to ask critical questions yesterday!). If anybody has any experience with this please could you let me know? I tried to get back in touch with the hospital but they phoned from a generic number so i struggled to get through to the right team. Thanks… a very stressed mum 😬
