Anyone else out there with severe glaucoma defects experiencing truncating of the middle of words on signs?
I've noticed this more the past 2 years and it seems to be even more pronounced if I've been reading a book or my phone a lot. It helps sometimes to look away and back again. If I cover either eye, I can see the letters in order easily (though I may need to scan from one end of a short phrase to the other end.
As an example, "DO NOT ENTER" can look exactly like "DNT ENTER" with no blurring.
I looked it up and found it described as "binocular summation failure" and it makes sense but seemed that my glaucoma doctor wasn't aware of it.
He said my extra-ocular muscles work well and he did venture that maybe the defects in each eye weren't matching up.
Of note, I have a lot of central vision loss from the glaucoma - wouldn't expect it to happen with peripheral loss alone.
