Balding in my mid 20s

TW: TRIGGERING CONTENT

Hi, I don't post often anywhere, but I just really need to get it off my chest.

Maybe for a little context my parents since I was little when it comes to hair would simply have my father home cut my brother's and my hair short with no style or any care just to keep things short so I "don't look like a homeless man". I always wanted to have nice fluffy hair (for which I had great genetics after my mother) , but was pretty much forced to cut it for years. My brother was quite older than me and he went full bald in his teens, my parents tried to medicate it hard, but it didn't do much good.

I was dreading the concept of losing my hair, but genetics were more lenient with me and in my teens I simply had a slightly receding Hairline. I begged my parents to try and try doing something about it but was simply given a proverbial cold shoulder cause "it didn't help my brother" and "look how happy your brother is without it and i'm stressing to much over it" (being compared to my brother is a entirely different can of worms...).

Amids other struggles of a young adult and things like BPD diagnosis I started to find myself year by year losing more and more of my head hay, which eventually against how it was downplayed in my head by my parents made me want to seek help with it. I spoke to a professional and I have to say she made me cry. Forget what is professional, she literally laughed in my face and told me i'm like 10 years too late. I know it sounds stupid in retrospective, but I almost killed myself that night.

It's a stupid thing, hair, but I feel like because of my genetics and parents' actions a big part of who I wanted to be was taken away from me.

Today I find myself staring at the mirror picturing what could've been and what comes next as I realise i'm nothing I wanted to be.
