Why are mini EV prices so different in EU?
Hey guys, ive been looking into mini electric cars for city use and the pricing is all over the place. its driving me nuts! π΅βπ« one site shows something super affordable like under 8k euros and then another jumps way up. feels like im not even looking at the same vehicle.
im not after anything fancy. just a small easy to park runabout thats cheap to run and perfect for short daily trips.
what really confuses me is where these price gaps come from. is it the country? dealer markups? import costs? different batteries or specs? or are some listings just not straightforward.
for example in france the citroen ami often starts around 7.5k euros. in italy the fiat topolino lists at 9.9k but drops to about 7.5k after subsidies. in germany the opel rocks e sits around 8k euros. here in spain the citroen ami is about 8.2k euros and the fiat topolino is 9.9k so locally it feels pricier.
now im wondering do people actually save money buying from another eu country or do registration shipping taxes and compliance issues just cancel it all out.
id rather know the realistic answer before i waste time getting excited over a low sticker price that disappears once the extras hit.
has anyone here actually compared mini ev prices across countries or different websites? what explains the gaps the most? would love some real talk experiences!
thanks guysπππ
