Course Dirt Question

I've already checked Google & YouTube with no luck so I'll ask here and hope for help. I play Bedrock on Android but would like to be able to gather course dirt, I know it can also be crafted but I need all the gravel I can find for a huge build I'm working on. I've already tried a hoe but all that does is turn it back into dirt as I collect it. Is there a definite way to collect course dirt??
