The way “skein” is pronounced.

For those that don’t know, the word “skein” is pronounced “skayn”, as in it’s supposed to rhyme with “rain” or “cane.”

I just can’t bring myself to pronounce it the “correct” way. In my mind it’s always “skeen”. To the point that I know that’s not the correct pronunciation, but my brain gets irritated when I hear it said the “correct” way.

So maybe my peeve is with my own brain for being irritated by the correct pronunciation.
