Its not worth visiting India for the food, places like Dubai, London, the NYC area etc have authentic Indian food that is on par with food in India
I'm an Indian who obviously loves Indian food. I would say though, it is not worth it to travel to India to have good authentic food. In certain cities around the world (NYC, SF Bay Area, Toronto, London, Dubai, Melbourne) there are hundreds of thousands of recent Indian immigrants and restaurants to cater to all of them. As in, the owners are Indian, the chefs are Indian, and the customers are Indian. So naturally its going to be made exactly like how it is made in India, except the kitchen hygiene and meat quality is probably better outside of India lol.
Now if you say "Well I had some crappy Indian food in London/New Jersey ... ", chances are you were going to a place that was geared to the general population. And Indian restaurants in India can also sometimes be bad (Indian cuisine in general is something thats more geared towards being cooked at home).
