Started with XEQT, now looking to reduce US exposure — thoughts on XEF?

I started investing last year with $1,000. As a first-timer investor, I got influenced by r/JustBuyXEQT and I kept it simple:

  • 100% XEQT (Canada 25% / US 45% / International 30%)

This year I had $5,000 more to invest. Since I'm not thrilled about where the US is heading, I wanted to reduce my American equity exposure. After a lot of back-and-forth with ChatGPT, I landed on this going forward:

  • 70% VXC / 30% VCN (Canada 30% / US 45% / International 25%)

Now I've also run my portfolio by Claude, which suggested the following if I want more granular control over my regional allocations:

  • 25–30% VCN / 40–45% VFV / 25–35% XEF
    • Option A: Canada 30% / US 45% / International 25%
    • Option B: Canada 25% / US 40% / International 35%

XEF doesn't come up much in Reddit threads — curious what people think of it.

Ultimately, my question is: would you go granular (VCN + VFV + XEF) or keep it simpler (VCN + VXC)?
