SMS 2FA codes severely delayed (15–40 min)

Hey all, hoping someone here has run into this.

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 14 Pro Max to the 17 Pro Max and ever since, I’m experiencing major delays receiving SMS-based 2FA codes. We’re talking 15–40 minutes in some cases, which completely defeats the purpose of a time-sensitive auth code.

This didn’t happen at all on my 14 Pro Max. Everything was instant before. Now it’s inconsistent, some apps are fine, but enough are affected that it’s become a real frustration. I end up having to fall back to email codes or just sit and wait.

A few things worth noting:

- The codes do eventually arrive, just way too late to be useful

- It’s not every app, but it’s happening frequently enough to notice a pattern

- Regular SMS works fine as far as I can tell

- I’ve already tried searching online but most results just vaguely point to “SMS service issues” with no specifics

My gut says something changed with how the new phone (or eSIM setup) handles these short-code messages, but I can’t pin it down.

Has anyone else seen this after upgrading to a new iPhone on T-Mobile? Any fixes or things worth trying? Would really appreciate any leads.
