Minor observation about The Menu (2022)
Αt the end, Anya Taylor-Joy escapes by ordering a super ordinary burger and then asking to take it to-go. The movie takes great lengths to tell you that this an average burger, a working-man’s burger — a “burger of the people”, if you will. The kind you’d get at a humble stand. I get the point they were making but there’s just one thing about it.
The burger they show would cost like $20 without fries or drink at most places. Like I’m sure you could find a place where they sell something that good for cheap but it’s certainly not the norm. Even at most burger stands I’ve been to, I’d probably have to break a $50 getting a full meal for two. Again, I get the point the movie is making. But I’ve seen yuppies line up around the block for burgers that look worse than that.
