How do I connect a PS5 controller to a PC for Steam?

PC gaming seems to be getting more controller-friendly lately, especially with Steam adding better native support for different controllers. Still, it feels like there’s always some confusion around setup, especially with PlayStation controllers compared to Xbox ones.

I’ve been trying to use my PS5 DualSense controller on my PC for Steam games, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it the “right” way. I’ve seen people mention both Bluetooth and wired connections, and also something about enabling PlayStation controller support in Steam settings—but I’m a bit lost on what actually works best.

In my case, I managed to connect it via Bluetooth, but sometimes Steam doesn’t seem to recognize it properly, or the button prompts are off. I’m also not sure if I’m missing out on features like haptics or adaptive triggers by doing it this way.

Is there a recommended setup for using a PS5 controller on PC with Steam? Should I stick to wired for better compatibility, or is Bluetooth fine if configured properly? Any tips or steps would be really appreciated.
