Hello & Advice
Hi everyone. I’m very nervous to write this (not sure why). I’m brand new to this sub and to IVF in general. Kinda wanted to say hi and just feel a bit like part of the community? I’ve been reading many posts the past few weeks and in part, this has helped so much. I went into IVF very… hmm naively? Like, from the sidelines, I’ve always known it can be a long process and that some people unfortunately struggle a lot with it. I understand the science behind it. But I guess I wasn’t prepared for all the information around the process itself. I always thought (naively again, just to be nice) that “oh we’ll do IVF and it’s one cycle and this and that happens”. Never considered the possibility of multiple retrievals or the confusion of dealing with clinics, etc. I went to my first appointment without reading/looking anything up beforehand and after the consult the Dr. was like “ok, we’ll put you on the schedule for next month”… 😵💫I was just looking for information and I was a bit unprepared for just the quickness of everything and lack of information. (Things have been obviously postponed since then). I haven’t started treatment yet but I’ve had a couple of appointments. I guess I just feel a bit up in the air and kinda frustrated by the lack of clarity and communication. Part of me hopes that this is just because I haven’t actually started, but that it will be better when I actually start a cycle or something. The doctor seems nice enough and they have good reviews praising the doctor but the office staff is just… a bit frustrating. I thought this was concerning until I read sooo many other stories of people saying that communication is sometimes an issue with clinics. I’m going to a small clinic. And I don’t think I need hand holding or emotional support from them or anything, I think I’d just really love like clear communication and information and a smooth process. My SO tells me that it’s probably normal and that people probably just go and they are used to maybe people not asking questions etc, but in general I really like knowing everything that is happening if that makes sense. I’ve had to drag things out from them piece by piece, which again, I’ve read is not uncommon. Before going I didn’t even know to take supplements or anything (I know there’s mixed feelings here)… sigh, anyways, just ranting a bit.
Has anyone had good results even when they find communication with the clinic a bit lacking?
I’ve decided not to share with anyone in my life. In general, I’m a very private person and even though I love my family/friends I just don’t wanna deal with people’s comments (good or bad). So my plan is not to share with anyone and hopefully that’ll work out.
You guys are all amazing and strong even when sometimes maybe you didn’t want to HAVE to be. I have loved reading your success stories and I’m sending hugs to everyone still working on it! 💕
