Best Distro’s for old Mac Pros (2009-2012) & iMacs (2011-2015)

Hello, good people @ r/FindMeALinuxDistro

I have a bunch of old Mac Pros (2009-2012) & iMacs (2011-2015) and am looking for information & inspiration into building them out with Linux partitions.

The Mac Pros (2009-2012) all have SSDs ranging from 500 GB to 2 TBs; 32-64 GBs of RAM & have various GPUs, ranging from NVIDIA Titan Xp, X & Black to AMD Sapphire Radeon RX580’s, RX480’s and a couple of EVGA GeForce GTX 780’s.

The iMacs (2011-2015) have 1 TB Fusion Drives with 16-32 GBs of RAM with their built in GPUs.

In order to do that, I need to learn more about the different distros and what their capabilities are.

Any insight into or recommendations into which distros I should look into?

I’m fairly techie and am not afraid to get my hands dirty, as all these machines are running OCLP on multiple partitioned drives.

But I’d like to know which distros are best in the following categories:

- Easy to into install

- Maximum performance per machine

- Gaming

Thoughts or resources are kindly appreciated.

Cheers!
